Packaging

Which situations require packaging?

Protection during shipment of a painting or object to be shipped for an exhibition, restoration or relocation. You may also need to protect a work of art that is to be stored for a longer period of time.

What do we do?

Our specialised packaging departments can advise you as to the various methods of packaging your valuables. We offer a choice between tailor made packaging or the lease of standard crates, frames or other packaging materials. Our wooden crates are made by hand and are designed to regulate humidity.

Lease

We offer you the option of leasing crates for the shipment of paintings and other items. An excellent solution if you want to ensure your valuables survive a relocation unscathed. We rent out two standard crate types for the shipment of works of art, namely the standard museum crate and the Baby Blue crate. We also rent out various other packaging materials for the shipment of art objects.

The standard museum crate
These crates are only suitable for road transport and air freight. They are equipped with a rail system with quoins, allowing for the paintings to be ‘secured’ in the crate. This means the dimensions of the painting do not necessarily have to match those of the crate’s interior. The crates have adjustable internal dimensions and come in five different sizes. The largest crate has maximum internal dimensions of (l) 215 cm x (w) 15 cm. x (h) 200 cm.

The Baby Blue crate
These are climate crates, suitable for both road and air freight. We measure the object in advance, so that the crate’s interior can be tailored to its specifications. The Baby Blue crate offers the advantage that the extra space around the object within it can be filled up entirely. This means the object is completely surrounded and vacuum packed, allowing for better climate control.

Tailor-made packaging

Our specialised packaging departments can create tailor-made packaging for all your objects. We will advise you on the best possible way of packaging your unique art object during a personal consultation. The next step is to create the tailor-made packaging on the basis of the jointly determined specifications. These handmade crates, frames or other packaging materials can be designed to meet the most stringent climate control and safety requirements.
